Indie-Music Cult Figure David Cloyd Returns to National Spotlight with New Single “Ocean Of Hours” from Forthcoming New Record on ECR Music Group.

David Cloyd returns to the national spotlight with his first record in more than a decade, Red Sky Warning (out in early 2025 on ECR Music Group), and its lead single, “Ocean Of Hours,” out September 24th. “Where did the time go?” asks Cloyd in this anthemic new song co-produced and mixed by Blake Morgan (Lenny Kravitz, Lesley Gore, Janita). Answering that question lies in understanding why his initial and striking ascent to indie-music cult-figure status was so remarkable, and unique.

Before moving north to Buffalo, Cloyd had made a stunning splash with his 2009 debut album, Unhand Me, You Fiend!—an album he’d recorded in his 9-foot by 9-foot apartment in Sunset Park, Brooklyn on a personal computer he’d built by hand. After being discovered by—and subsequently signing to—Morgan’s ECR Music Group record label, Cloyd’s debut went on to hit #1 on the world’s second-largest streaming service at the time (eMusic), culminating in a major feature about the artist in New York Magazine. Multiple TV music placements followed, his work becoming a regular fixture on MTV’s Real World, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and Bad Girls Club. His follow-up record, I Could Disappear, showcased his extraordinary musicianship with a set of live-in-studio performances of the material from his first record. His re-imaginings of Radiohead’s “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi” and Paul McCartney’s “Dear Boy” won him an even broader audience, with the latter being licensed by McCartney’s own company, MPL Communications.

“David’s as special a musician as I’m likely to encounter,” says Morgan. “And frankly, that anyone’s likely to encounter. It’s no surprise he has this rabid indie-music following, because the people who ‘get’ him get how special he is too. He’s a foundational artist here at ECR. I’m so glad he’s back with this new record, his fans are going to absolutely love it.”

A move to Buffalo to start a family was next for Cloyd, with the artist branching out as a producer himself and founding the Buffalo-based ECR imprint Hook & Ladder Records. In the years since, he’s become a tentpole music figure and producer in Buffalo’s music scene, producing Caroline Fenn’s Fragile Chances (2013) and Buffalo Tango Orkestra’s acclaimed debut Ecos Del Pasado (2018), while also becoming ECR Music Group’s VP of Creative Operations.

“I’ve dug deep here in Buffalo, raising a family and embedding myself here in this region’s musical landscape,” says Cloyd. “And I’ve loved all of it. But, it’s also meant I’ve had to step back from the ‘artist’ part of me during these years, and that’s been hard too. That juxtaposition—the love of what I’ve been doing, and the ache of what I’ve been missing—is precisely what this album, and what the song ‘Ocean Of Hours,’ are about.”

This new record finds Cloyd hitting the same brilliant note his earlier work struck, but at a higher yet deeper emotional octave. His artistry will draw comparisons to Radiohead, Beck, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, and Peter Gabriel as it always has, but Cloyd’s distinctive voice—both as a singer and as a record maker—continues to be completely his own.

“This album is a love story,” says Cloyd. “I’ve been in love with making music for as long as I can remember. It’s a deeply mysterious love to me, and exploring it is not the search for an answer—for me, the exploration is the answer. I felt the same thing when I met my wife, and I’ve watched the two great loves of my life dance through it all together. It’s not always graceful, but it’s always beautiful.”

Red Sky Warning, written and performed by David Cloyd, mixed and mastered by Blake Morgan, is out in early 2025. The album’s first single “Ocean Of Hours” is out September 24th on ECR Music Group.

Solitude Performed by: Xematria formerly Bri 333 #RnB

Xematria, formerly known as Bri 333, is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Illinois. Her roots are South African and Italian. Shortly after she took interest in singing and poetry at age 6, she began her journey as an artist. All throughout high school she attended guitar and vocal lessons, as well as ballet and pointe at a performing arts school. During this time she recorded original songs and covers in her room, but they have never been released.

She was always writing, but it was never material she could see herself recording and releasing, until 2019. That year was dark but gave her the material she needed to move forward and create the art she desired to share with the world. Late 2019 she recorded and released her first single “ICU In Me”, what her listeners call “a certified classic”, as well as “Beautiful End”, a dreamy yet sassy single. She released her next single “Under pressure”, as well as "No.9", "Break me down" and "Potentia", Her first radio play was a Stonebridge anthem mix of her song "Under Pressure" in 2022. Xematria is currently working on numerous singles and her first EP.

Being an independent artist leaves her with creating and executing her plan, which she expressed was “difficult but rewarding... my fanbase and the way they express how my music makes them feel means the world to me and is great motivation.  They are truly some of the most kind hearted people I've spoken to, and Im so grateful that music is what connects us all”.

Her next Project "Solitude" will be available late September.
Until then listen to No. 9 which was recorded under her former name BRI 333

Special Olympics Swimmer Ashton Smith #Dallas #Texas

Ashton Smith is a Gold Medalist in Swimming in the arena of people with disabilities. She had the privilege of competing in the World Games, Dubai and in Seattle, at a National US Games. It is a unique honor, and she was truly blessed to have accomplished that feat, which is especially amazing since she is legally blind. Many things stuck out in her journey from hometown hero to homeless, world-class gold medalist despite having a limiting disability. Her road to greatness started when she was nine years old. As a "Differently Abled" person, she found herself being left out of events, overlooked, and under picked. To say it caused inner trauma would be putting it mild. She learned to cope by escaping into swimming, which can be a team sport or an individual one. She found herself at the YMCA in Waxahachie almost daily.

Once ASHTON SMITH discovered the water, she was naturally drawn to it. Once the staff at the YMCA saw that she loved to swim, they encouraged, empowered, and enabled her to train and blossom into that youth capable enough to capture a spot on the Special Olympics team. Most people have an erroneous perception of that organization. There are varying levels of competitiveness involved, and one of the underlying reasons for their existence is to assist athletes that are disadvantaged for any number of reasons.

Ashton Smith’s blindness afforded her the opportunity of competing as a swimmer for the organization. Ashton Smith told LHMPR Radio Podcast Host Yvonne Wilcox that she would like to move forward by monetizing her historic winnings and her completion from the Organization. Ashton went on to say that the restrictions and limitations that are in place make it almost impossible for an athlete to capitalize on their brand while still a member of that organization. However, now that she has severed ties with the organization, her plan is to make sure that she has a podcast show so that she ca speak freely about her experiences. Her second hope is to get her book that is already written and published on Amazon promoted more. She said that she is seeing her goals starting to happen right before her eyes (no pun intended).
